STRAIGHT TALK ABOUT CROOKED TEETH
If teeth are not aligned correctly in your mouth dentists refer to this as "malocclusion." If untreated, malocclusion can cause periodontal disease and can also create enormous amounts of stress to both teeth and jaw, which also creates premature wear.

QUICK TIP:  DID YOU KNOW THAT MALOCCLUSION AFFECTS 74% OF ALL AMERICANS!

There are various types of malocclusion:

Crowding

Spacing

Deep Bite

Cross Bite

Excessive Over Jet

Edge-To-Edge Bite

Open Bite

The Advancement of Periodontal Disease
When teeth are crowded it makes it more difficult to remove harmful bacteria that attaches to the tooth, therefore, bacteria will form underneath the gums.  Which will then create pockets further trapping bacteria.

Many people may not realize the link between malocclusion and his/her overall health.  A sever periodontal infection, if untreated, can contribute to, but not limited to, the increase of coronary heart disease, stroke, complications of diabetes and pregnancies and even respiratory disease.

Wear and Trauma
the alignment of the teeth is important because it can create unnatural stress to teeth and jaw causing chipping and notches at the gum line called "abfractions."  This can lead to poor root support, loose teeth and eventually tooth loss.

Straightforward Solution
Straighter teeth means a healthier mouth!
